Our goal is to focus on building a foundation of knowledge amongst our group concerning the Constitution, our history, and our rights.
Training Subcommittee
- Educate ourselves and the community on the U.S. Constitution and founding principles
- The Constitution (and learning the Founder’s intent behind it)
- The Bill of Rights and what we can do to protect our rights
- An overview of how our government is run The 5000 Year Leap (and other books)
- A historical perspective: events and legislation that have shaped our current state of affairs and brought us to this point – including where we’ve strayed from the Founding Fathers’ original intents.
- Planned presentations, guest speakers, and open discussion
- Track resources that can be shared with the group
- Teach basic economics
- The Legislative Process (National, State and Local)
- Host policy debates
- Citizen Lobbyist Training - Utah House/Senate, County and Local (Learn how to speak face-to-face with our state legislators during committee hearings and before they vote in the legislative session.)
- Train members how to be a delegate.
Research Subcommittee
- Report Cards on those running for Utah House and Utah Senate
- Report Cards on those running for Weber County Commission
- Report Cards on those running for Mayor and City Council seats in Weber County
- Report Cards on judges running in Davis County
- Work with Weber County 912 Project and other like minded groups on U.S. House/Senate Report Cards
We will research the positions and voting records (if applicable) of incumbents and candidates. This information will be shared with like-minded groups, members of the community, and the media.
